10 Ways To Freshen Up Your Home For Spring

February 25, 2012

Ahhhhh!  I ADORE the spring!!!!  Can I say it again??  ADORE!!!!  The spring in Memphis, in my humble opinion is, second to none!  The azaleas blooming, the dogwood trees, the cherry blossom trees and, so much more!  In a word: FAB-U-LOUSITY…the colors are so vivid, you almost can’t believe your eyes!

I have been “fluffing” my home for spring this week and, as if the weather ‘read my mind’, the temperature in Memphis one day this week  was sunny and 80 degrees and, oh so perfect!

Get going with thinking about all things “spring”…jump in!  I just love this season!  The most special part to me is Easter.  What about Lent?  Are you giving up something this year?  I would love to hear from you!

TEN WAYS TO FRESHEN YOUR HOME FOR SPRING:

1.  Set out a vase of fresh flowers.  Burn a new clean scented candle.

2.  Purchase a new spring smelling hand soap in the bathroom  used by guests.   This “Pink Pomegranate” by Seda France is, DIVINE!!!3.  VOTIVO candles are a ‘staple’ in my home.  The fresh clean scents permeate through my house and, this one, “Seablue Sky”, is no exception. 4.  Read a home magazine that is filled with loads of spring color.  The cover of this new “Traditional Home” makes me smile each time I see it, on display in my family room.  Just look at this cover!   This magazine always helps transition me from season to season. 5.  Why YES!  Lipstick has every thing to do with the home!  Lol!  Putting on a fresh swipe of lip color helps me straighten my house better!   I bought this new spring color at the grocery store this week.  This is by Revlon, in “Cha Cha Cherry”, #6266.  Think light and white when it comes to accessorizing your home.  I love to decorate with sand dollars, white coral and white seashells.  7.  An easy way to “usher in” the spring is with cute paper cocktail napkins.  These are easily found ANY where!  I keep all different sizes and colors for spring in my “paper pantry”  (bottom area of  the  buffet cabinet,  near my breakfast table).8.  Buy a colorful desk size calendar.  Isn’t this calendar so cute?  My dear friend gave it to me for Christmas, what a fun gift!  I have enjoyed it so much!  This sets out next to my kitchen sink.  Darling!  Look at how it is personalized.  Buy it at Dabney Lee Designs9.  Force spring bulbs,  indoors.  I have just LOVED these forced tulip bulbs the past two week!  Simply purchase indoor bulbs and, set them in a vase.  Fill the vase with water, until the bulbs are just covered.  Last step:  wait until they bloom and, enjoy!  *Add water as needed.  Keep the water filled, right at the root line.  Find indoor bulbs kits at American Meadows.  They carry paper white kits and, many more.

10.  Purchase new bath towels.  Every now and then, you need to get rid of drab and tired bath towels and, replinish with new ones.  I bought new cream bath towels for our master bath, several weeks ago.  These are very plush and soft, by Calvin Klein, at TJ MAXX.   I always buy white or cream towels for our master bath.  I love the light color and,  soft and calming.   Fresh new towels are a great way to freshen up the bathroom.

Spring time is upon us!  I hope you will take some time and, “fluff” your house for this wonderful season.   Yes, it does take some careful thought and planning, but, you and your family will really enjoy a fresh and pulled together home.  This is just another way of living with “flair”.  Have a great weekend!  -Beth
