I LOVE changing things around in our home! I am amazed at how changing out the mantel for a new season or, moving accessories around from one room to another can give you a whole FRESH perspective in your house. My dear mom is GREAT at this! Growing up, she was always wallpapering a room, painting a room, making a new centerpiece for the table, spray painting anything and everything (ha! She LOVES spray paint!) or a million other projects. I am thankful to have been raised in a home where my mom was so committed to keeping our house fresh and seasonal. Nowadays, I strive to do the same thing!
Take a look at your mantel today. Don’t have a mantel? Okay, what about a shelf or a book shelf? Remove every single item and, start with a “blank slate”. Look around your house for items that you can place, stack and create with. Currently, I am really into the off balanced look. This means, I have one set of “stuff” on one end of the mantel and, another set on the opposite end.
Keep in mind, you do not have to spend a single penny in order to give your mantel a WHOLE new look! With my mantel….I did not spend even a $1.o0! I reinvented a large bulletin board, purchased years ago from Ballard Designs. I took every thing off of it, for a clean back board, on the mantel. I went upstairs and “shopped” in the closet where I keep seasonal items. Lo and behold, there was a cream wreath (I am WAY into cream right now!- light and bright, my goal). I looked around my house for cream colored books and other light items. I love how this turned out and, I am excited to share it with you!
I purchased the large white piece of coral online, I just Googled “white coral” (about a year ago) and, located the best price. I found the tall white candles as pictured, at the dollar store. The white pitcher is from Pottery Barn. The wreath is one I have had for several years, bought it at a local home interiors store. The books are from our collection.
What are you waiting for? Design a whole new spring look for your mantel right away! You will LOVE gazing at it as you walk around your house each day!

Beth
